The alarm sound buzzes at 06.21 (I have a thing for random times) and I roll over to reach for the snooze, how can it possibly be morning when it's still so dark. The clock change feels overdue especially with two dogs to walk before starting my day. Torches, wellies and dog paraphenalia at the ready and I slip out of bed and throw on my trusty Sweaty Betty comfies ready to walk the Burghley house loop. Bramble, my new Cocker Spaniel puppy is now 14 weeks and with his big brother Barney (6) at his side we embark on our morning stroll. 2.5 miles starting in sheer darkness, I hear the sheep bleating and the sounds of the birds stirring in the woodland areas. I love this time of year, it's sheer surpises as the sun begins to rise behind the backdrop of the most fabulous views, Burghley House. Filled with local history and still lived-in today by a family. It's poignant presence locally never tires. It's grandeur, elegance of large golden gates and thousands of deer sweep the grasslands surrounding. As the lightness embarks, two Stags appear on the footpath ahead, crisp crunchy leaves disturb the silence with them head to head clashing antlers. It's truly mesmerising to watch such spectacular animals in such close proximity. Barney and Bramble sit in awe, how lucky we are to live in a world so peaceful at this hour filled with abudances of autumn air yet so intimate to us with no-one to disturb or share the moment with. I remember just how small our footprints are in a world so large with so much to still discover. We head home, I feed the boys, a tea in tow I prepare tonights dinner. Sausage Casserole - I dig out my Le Creuset heart casserole dish, it feels so fitting with how wholesome today feels already. Wishing you all a fabulous weekend.
